Steve Husome
Founder – Chief Inspiration Officer
After surviving a horrific motorcycle accident that resulted in the loss of his right leg below the knee, Steve felt compelled to help others suffering from limb loss and started the HusomeStrong Foundation. Following his amputation and rehabilitation, Steve has proved time and again that the power of positive thinking, determination and courage will allow you to overcome any obstacle.
Austin Husome
Vice President
Austin is a CFHS alum and an eight-year veteran of the United States Air Force. He received his bachelor of Science degree from Upper Iowa University in business management. Austin provides insight and consults the board in the area of veteran affairs and best practices to assist veterans beyond what is provided by the VA. In his spare time, he enjoys golf, competitive pistol shooting and riding his Harley.
Sarah Langel
Secretary
Sarah received her BA in public relations from the University of Northern Iowa. She has more than 10 years’ experience in marketing and public relations, including several years in healthcare marketing. Through her various volunteer roles in community groups and non-profit organizations, Sarah is passionate about helping others and is committed to assisting the amputee community.
Jeannette Husome
Treasurer
Jeannette is a native of Cedar Falls, a CFHS, and UNI Alumni. Jeannette offers a unique perspective of being a caregiver for someone living with a person suffering from limb loss. She is a strong advocate for insurance fairness when it comes to coverage of prosthetic devices. She enjoys photography and volunteers her time to be the official photographer for the foundation.
Jim Langel
Board Member
Jim is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a BS in Leisure Studies and received his MA from the University of South Dakota in Sports Management. Jim brings three decades of experience serving on multiple nonprofit boards at the local and national level. He also has experience as a former CEO of a nonprofit organization. Jim has always had a passion for helping others improve their lives and is driven by Steve’s strong desire to help others who have endured a limb loss.
