ABOUT

The HusomeStrong Foundation

September 6, 2014 began as a beautiful late summer day.

I began this Saturday like many others, up early, stretching my 54-year-old legs, then out for an easy 4 mile run. Little did I know this would be my last day of running.

Less than 5 hours after that morning jog, I was fighting for my life. Me and three close friends were on our Harleys enjoying the nice weather when a semi-truck pulled in front of me, forever changing the trajectory of my life’s path.
Battling multiple injuries, the worst damage to both of my legs, I had to make the most difficult decision of my life; amputate my right leg below the knee. Leading a very active lifestyle I worried how this decision would affect my abilities and lifestyle.

Now after nine surgeries, hundreds of hours of physical therapy, two different prosthetic legs and learning how to walk all over again, I am doing GREAT! You hear that you don’t know how strong you are until you have to be, and I can attest to that.

HusomeStrong is an attitude, a strong belief that you will get better, never allowing your mind to wander into that dark place where you want to just sit and feel sorry for yourself. This positive attitude is what got me through some of the darkest hours, the set-backs, the lonely days in rehabilitation and constant pain.

Now my passion is helping others.

I started the HusomeStrong Foundation to assist people who may be experiencing the same problems I had, but don’t have had the same support system and resources.

The HusomeStrong Foundation is committed to helping the amputee community through peer support, advocacy and financial assistance. If you need assistance, please contact the foundation at info@husomestrong.com or the contact page on this web site.
